Join us for first annual Pre-Health Fair & Conference @ Cornell!

The Pre-Health Conference @ Cornell offers students the opportunity to talk informally with and learn from representatives from health professions schools and programs from around the country. 

There will also be several concurrent sessions that students may attend to learn more about specific topics or programs.

Students should make every effort to attend this unique conference opportunity. It is not necessary to dress up; school attire is fine for this event.

Feet First- The Option of Podiatry

Did you know doctors of podiatric medicine specialize in the health of feet, ankles and toes? These specialists can treat a variety of patients and even perform surgeries! Come hear from Cornell Alumni, Dr. Daniel Smith about the pathway from Cornell to podiatry school and what his “day in the life of” looks like now as a practicing podiatrist in Syracuse, NY!

Daniel Smith, DPM 

Daniel Smith, DPM is a native of East Syracuse, and a graduate of East Syracuse-Minoa High School. He attended Cornell University, where he received a B.A. in Biology. He also attended the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, in Chicago, Illinois, where he received his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine, Magna Cum Laude. He completed his podiatric residency at Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham, Massachusetts, and returned home to Central New York to begin practicing in 2002. 

Dr. Smith is Board Certified in Foot Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (ABPS). He is on staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, University Hospital, as well as several CNY surgical centers including Camillus Surgery Center.

 Building Strong Relationships with Cornell Faculty

Are you unsure about how to best connect with Cornell faculty? Have you wondered about the best way to approach a faculty for a letter of recommendation? In this panel, we will ask faculty to share how they hope students connect with them and what they expect from students who want to request a letter of recommendation. Come and hear the “behind the scenes” expectations Cornell faculty have of students. Attendees will learn ways to connect with faculty and how to nurture those relationships.
